Nexum Boğaziçi

2000-2003                                                                                                                                Boğaziçi Electronic Solutions was first established in İstanbul in 2000 by Dr. Joachim Behrendt and his wife, Filiz Behrendt, with the aim of providing internet-related services in consulting, design and IT to leading Turkish and international companies. In June 2001, Nexum AG in Germany, an internationally operating internet services provider with operations in Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Hungary, focusing on all internet-related areas of content, consulting, design and IT, purchased 74.9% of the shares in order to extend its services to Turkey.

Then called Nexum Boğaziçi, the company expanded its operations, its turnover, and staff dramatically in a very short period of time. Supported by its German partner, Nexum Boğaziçi was able to use the collapse of the internet bubble in 2001, and the Turkish economic crisis of the same year, to extend its market share and its brand awareness dramatically, without any reductions in headcount or turnover.

2003-2004
In 2003, Nexum Germany announced it would not be able to support the activities of its international partners any longer due to financial restrictions. In his role as a management consultant, Dr. Joachim Behrendt was asked by the main shareholders of Nexum Germany to restructure the Nexum group, sell its international operations, split its German operations, and finally dissolve the company. As interim manager, Dr. Behrendt took over the position of the CEO of Nexum Germany with its international subsidies for two years. During this time, he closed the consulting and content departments of Nexum Germany, sold their IT department and creative department separately to previously competing German companies, and, based on separate management buyout agreements, sold the activities in Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Turkey to its respective management, before finally dissolving Nexum Germany in 2004. Having taken over the shares sold by Nexum Germany, Dr. Behrendt immediately reorganized the operations in Turkey. The activities were split into three main profit centers, consulting, IT, and creative, with distinctive services, customers, and management. In order to achieve a better market recognition for its creative services, already in 2004 a new brand, Nexum Creative, was introduced. All interactive solutions of Nexum Turkey were now offered under this new brand.

Nexum Creative serves its customers who wish to utilize internet as an effective marketing tool. Its creative and unique solutions include creating and implementing online marketing campaigns, all issues centering around viral marketing (e.g. facebook applications), advergames, websites, etc. Its customer base now both covers leading Turkish as well as well-known international customers.

2004-2008
Nexum Boğaziçi consists of the other two profit centers, one being IT services, the other one consulting services. The IT team specializes in web-based technologies and develops B2B, B2C and B2E applications with the aim of optimizing the information transfer and business flow between the company, its customers, suppliers, employees and business partners. The consulting team focuses on ERP and CPM (corporate performance management) solutions which help decision makers to take wise and timely decisions by providing them with enhanced reporting, budgeting, scorecard and consolidation solutions.

Today
With the aim of further extending its successful management consulting services, and providing these services under a separate brand, Nexum decided to split the consulting activities with effect as of 1.1.2009. The management consulting services, directly managed by Dr. Behrendt, are offered in a new company, using the new brand BIC Behrendt International Consulting. BIC focuses on management consulting services in the areas of accounting, finance, and restructuring, the core competencies of Dr. Behrendt and his team. The business consulting services, on the other hand, specializing in the customization and implementation of ERP and CPM solutions, are continued to be offered under the roof of Nexum Boğaziçi.

Despite the very volatile business environment where often Consulting, IT and Agency services are hit most, Nexum Boğaziçi has continued growing and continuously enlarging its customer and services portfolio. In 2004, Nexum Boğaziçi scored 4th in the business software category of IT 500; in 2006, 2007 and 2008, the company was one of the fastest growing technology companies according to the Fast 50 report of Deloitte.
